Roswell Satellite Event

Soccer Compatriots,

We are kicking off the push for this year’s FX Cup Charity satellite event in Roswell – Saturday December 10th. 2022 .

Our efforts last year between sponsorships, donations, and event proceeds were circa $16,000 of the total charity sum (more than $80,000). That helped significantly in reaching the charity’s core objectives to recognize those in our soccer community and front-line service members that tragically passed on and provide some of those family members left behind financial help – commendable and awesome by everyone contributing!

Sadly, we have lost more great comrades this year (several from our own GA United group, Roswell, Forsyth AFU, Milton, and Cobb soccer communities) and again the tragic loss of brave Georgia front-line workers – they all need to be remembered – along with those that were lost in the past – with enthusiasm and support.

It’s the 20th Anniversary of this great charity so our goal for the Roswell Satellite Event this year is to exceed $20,000. This may be ambitious, but I think we can collectively meet this goal. We have formed a working committee of volunteers to help in the organization, raising sponsorships, and planning and directing the day’s events.

Those that generously gave sponsorships last year we look forward to your return this time around – the minimum is $500. Anyone else wanting to offer a sponsorship let me know ASAP – you will get your logo on the official charity tournament shirt, a pitch writeup on your business, a logo link on the official FX website, and recognition of your generosity to the whole GA soccer community.

Here is some info on the event:

The Roswell Satellite Event is set for Saturday morning, December 10, 2022, starting at 8 am. As in the past, we will be organizing teams and will provide details as participation registration is confirmed. Some of you may have participated in the Father Christmas Cup charity at Silverback Park. In conjunction with this, there is a satellite event held in Roswell catering to the more adult soccer I community. Anyone wishing to participate in this event can do so by emailing John Kaziow at clarkkaziow@msn.com . The event parent charity raises on average $80,000 each year in support of people in our related soccer community that have faced tragedy and hardship – see www.fxcup.org .

This year’s event again will be held at Groveway Community Park (aka, Waller Park) Roswell GA starting at 8 am December 10th. Play will be 5 v 5 for a co-ed division, a 65 division, and a division 8 v 8 (may be 7 v 7, or full 11 v 11 game to be determined) for the over 50s men. Please invite family and friends that are interested – we can accommodate ALL ages, as it’s for Charity! Let us know by email what group you want to be in.

The recommended event charity fee is $50 per participant (anything you can afford works and you can always donate more) for which you get an official charity shirt. There will be complimentary coffee, breakfast treats, and other snacks. Also other things to be determined soon.

We had a great turnout last year and raised several thousand dollars as our contribution to the parent charity. Please get the word out – its open to all GA soccer members and any other folks that want to participate. This is our chance to unite in the big hearted spirit and giving that our soccer community always shows. Ryan Dupont, Aly Wade and Roswell Parks have made a significant gesture again in allowing us the use of the facilities, Upper and Lower Groveway, – so let’s make it happen!

Please let me have names of all of those wanting to participate. AND AN INDICATION OF PREFERRED SHIRT SIZE, ASAP so we can get teams organized etc.

Looking forward to responses ASAP!

THANK YOU ALL!

And GOD BLESS!

I wanted to take a moment and give thought to those that we have sadly lost in the course of this year from our soccer community that will not be taking a seat at the family “table” but are no less embedded in our hearts. We will be memorializing these individuals at our satellite Roswell 20th Anniversary Father Christmas Charity event – they include Jody Burns, Elliot Knezevic, Wilder Rosales, (see attached), and Phillip Broome – plus also remembering those that have passed in years gone by.

So far, we have raised nearly $10,000 from our sponsorship drive – now we need a large turnout from our soccer community, family, friends (get the word out and names IN – All are welcomed) to meet or beat our charity target of $20,000. It will be a time to remember our friends and any loved ones in our life that has passed on – while celebrating positively through the joy of playing soccer and raising funds for those in NEED! Look forward to everyone’s generosity.

Lots of folks have responded so far – I just need email confirm of commitment to attend, what group you want to play in (details below), and you can pay on the day. If you can’t attend but are just sending a donation (we can still get you a souvenir commemorative shirt), please make checks out to “The Father Christmas Cup” and mail c/o John Kaziow, 13661 New Providence Road, Milton 30004 – let me know so I can look out for it in the mail.
